Richard Wayne Mullins - a wonderful Christian music songwriter and singer - tragically died in a car accident back in Sept 1997 (he was only 41yo).
His song, Other Side of the World, was so inspiring, so beautiful and so applicable to where I was serving during the summer of 1989. Listen to the song (the lyrics at the very beginning is in Thai}:
Yes, these remote, far away countries do need the Lord. This song reminded me of why I was there. We needed to deliver the Saving Message of Jesus Christ to every person, in every land and to every nation. Truly, God's message must not end at our borders - it shall reach to the ends of the earth. That summer, I learned a valuable lesson from God to not let foreign culture, language, distance and heat to be an obstacle in delivering His message! God's Word is supreme and his grace is bountiful.
And How do we, his servants, serve the Lord? One Step at a Time!
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8 :32-39
